Jovanotti is an Italian singer-songwriter. He gradually departed from his early mix of hip hop, rap and disco, taking in funk, world music and even classical arrangements and ska influences. His lyrics address philosophical, religious and political issues, typical of the Italian cantautore tradition. Some of his earlier work is closer to keyboard-heavy 1980s pop. Most of his songs are sung in Italian; he also released a Spanish-language greatest hits album. Jovanotti has scored eight number-one albums in Italy. As of 2011, he has also released eight number-one singles as a lead singer and two as a featured artist.
